Financial Reporting
Each year, the General Accounting and Reporting Division produces the county’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, the Public Utilities System Annual Financial Report, the Manatee County Port Authority Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, as well as individual statements and reports for the Clerk of the Circuit Court.
General Accounting staff monitors and maintains the county’s financial records. On a monthly basis, Interim Financial Reports are prepared which provide a snapshot of the county’s financial position. In conjunction with the interim reports, staff prepares a separate Port Financial Schedule, a condensed summary of the Port’s operations and financial position.
The County’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) provides a detailed view into the financial results and position of the County. Published annually, as of the end of the County’s fiscal year on September 30th, this report has been awarded the Government Finance Officer’s Association’s (GFOA) Certificate in Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for 43 consecutive years.
The Manatee County Port Authority Annual Comprehensive Financial Report provides further detail into this dependent special district's operations and financial position. The document, published annually, has also received the GFOA’s Certificate in Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for 29 consecutive years. The financial report also provides continuing disclosures which are important to the holders of Port bonds. The Manatee County Popular Report is a condensed and simplified report of the detailed information provided in the ACFR. Its primary purpose is to provide the citizens of Manatee County with an understandable report of the county’s financial performance. This report has garnered high praise from independent reviewers and GFOA staff, earning the GFOA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for 24 consecutive years.
The Manatee County Public Utilities System Annual Financial Report provides specific financial information related to the Public Utilities System, which consists of water and wastewater, solid waste and stormwater operations. This report is designed to provide continuing financial and operation disclosures for the bond holders of the Public Utilities System’s bonds.
