New Executive Order prevents renters and homeowners from losing their homes

A new Executive Order from Governor Ron DeSantis, prevents renters and homeowners from losing their homes.

The Governor has extended Executive Order, 20-94, through June 30, 2020.  It was originally set to expire today, June 2nd.  The new order means anyone who cannot pay their rent this month or for the past few months, cannot be evicted as well as homeowners who have not paid their mortgage payments cannot be foreclosed on through June 30.

What does this mean for landlords and mortgage companies? The Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller’s Office is still accepting filings from landlords and home owners for evictions and foreclosures.  Yet, at this time, the Clerk of Court cannot move forward with issuing summons on these cases.
