Manatee Clerk hosts free community shred day on November 15

The Manatee Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller will host its fall Clerk's Community Shred Day on Saturday, November 15, from 9 to 11 a.m., or until the shred truck reaches capacity, whichever happens first at Manatee Technical College, 6305 SR 70 E, Bradenton, FL 34203.

This free drive-thru event allows Manatee County residents and individuals to safely dispose of personal documents containing sensitive information and destroy hard drives removed from computers or laptops—helping protect against identity theft and fraud.

Event Details:

  • When: Saturday, November 15, 2025, 9-11 a.m. or until the shred truck reaches capacity
  • Where: Manatee Technical College, 6305 SR 70 E, Bradenton, FL 34203
  • Cost: Free to the public
  • Limit: Two standard-sized bankers' boxes or copy paper boxes (approximately 12" x 10" x 15") per vehicle
  • Format: Drive-thru (remain in your vehicle)

What to Bring:

Documents can be brought in any container.

Accepted items include:

  • Personal documents with sensitive information (any color or paper type)
  • Old tax returns, W-2s, and 1099 forms
  • Bank statements, cancelled checks, and credit card statements
  • Pay stubs and employment records
  • Social Security cards, birth and death certificates
  • Medical records, insurance policies, and explanation of benefits (EOBs)
  • Pre-approved credit offers
  • Plastic credit cards and expired IDs
  • Hard drives (must be removed from devices)

What NOT to Bring:

  • Binders
  • Junk mail, magazines, or newspapers
  • Wet or damp paper
  • Business or commercial documents
  • Electronics (laptops, computers, monitors, etc.)

"Identity theft is a serious concern, and we want to make it easy for residents and individuals to protect themselves," said Angel Colonneso, Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller. "This free event gives our community a safe, convenient way to dispose of sensitive documents and reduce the risk of fraud."

Shred-Medic, a NAID AAA Certified secure document destruction company, will provide on-site shredding services at the event.

The Clerk & Comptroller's office provides Community Shred Days twice annually—once in spring and once in fall—as a free service to help Manatee County residents safeguard their identities.
