SCAM ALERT: Department of Revenue Impersonation Scam
We have become aware of a new text message scam where individuals are impersonating the Florida Department of Revenue (DOR) in an attempt to gain access to personal banking information. If you receive one of these messages, please be aware it is not legitimate, and remember:
- The DOR does not send text messages about refunds.
- Do not reply or click links.
- You can report scams to the Federal Trade Commission, the Florida Office of the Attorney General, or the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
- If you have been a victim of this or any other scam, contact your financial institution and your local sheriff’s office.
The State Disbursement Unit (SDU) and DOR call centers have received multiple calls about this scam and are aware, but wanted to make sure you are also aware of this newest attempt to defraud our customers. This scam does not appear to be limited to child support, and the DOR has placed a message on their website's homepage.
You can learn more about other scams on our Scams and Fraud page.
