Manatee Clerk’s office celebrates 45 years of excellence in financial reporting

BRADENTON, Fla. (March 25, 2025) – For the 45th consecutive year, the Manatee Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller has earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). This recognition, awarded for the County’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), underscores a decades-long commitment to transparency and accountability in financial reporting.

The Clerk’s Office also earned two additional long-standing recognitions: the Popular Annual Financial Report award for the 26th consecutive year and the Port Authority’s ACFR award for the 31st consecutive year. In addition, it received the Triple Crown award for the fourth consecutive year, an honor reserved for governments that achieve all three of GFOA’s top financial reporting awards, including the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.

“Our Finance Department’s dedication to producing clear, accurate, and transparent financial reports is the reason we have earned this recognition year after year,” said Clerk Angel Colonneso. “Forty-five years of excellence in financial reporting is a reflection of our commitment to responsible fiscal stewardship and public accountability.”

The ACFR offers a detailed financial overview, exceeding standard accounting requirements to enhance transparency. The Popular Annual Report, a condensed version of the ACFR, simplifies complex financial data to help the public better understand the County’s financial health.

Each year, an impartial panel of public finance professionals evaluates the reports to ensure they meet the highest standards for clarity, completeness, and public accessibility. The program recognizes excellence in financial reporting, ensuring that budgets and financial statements adhere to strict professional standards and promote transparency.
