Clerk’s Passport Division passes 2023 U.S. Department of State Audit

The Passport Division of the Office of Angelina “Angel” Colonneso, Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller for Manatee County, received high marks from the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Acceptance Facility Oversight (AFO) following the AFO’s 2023 Oversight Inspection.

Audit Highlights:

  • An AFO analyst reviewed the division’s passport application acceptance procedures, information security, supplies, and training. In all four sections, the division received positive remarks.
  • The facility’s passport program is compliant with the policies and procedures outlined in the 2019 Passport Agent’s Reference Guide (PARG).
  • In fiscal year (FY) 2023, the division processed 9,711 passport applications, a remarkable 33% increase from FY 2022.

The Clerk & Comptroller’s Passport Division is an integral part of the U.S. Department of State’s Passport Application Acceptance Program (PAAP). The division assists customers with applying for a new passport book or card, renewing a passport that was issued more than 15 years ago, and applying for a passport for a minor. Additionally, the Clerk’s office takes passport photos for a nominal fee.
