The Office of Angelina “Angel” Colonneso, Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller for Manatee County Division of Inspector General, recently underwent a peer review for the division’s internal auditing practices.

The division earned the highest mark as a result of the review.

“Routine peer reviews are crucial to maintain the highest standards of transparency, efficiency, and accountability in local government,” said Angel Colonneso, Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller for Manatee County. “I am proud to report that the Division of Inspector General received the highest marks possible on their recent peer review.”

This process, which takes place every three years, is designed to ensure the Division of Inspector General’s internal auditing system of quality of control is in compliance with the Government Auditing Standards issued by the Comptroller General of the United States and in accordance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors.

CS&L CPAs performed tests that included a review of the division’s quality control policies and procedures, engagement reports, engagement documentation, and other necessary documents.
