The Manatee County Clerk’s office celebrates Government Finance Professionals Week 2022

An official proclamation from Manatee County designates March 14-18, 2022, as "Government Finance Professionals Week." The proclamation issued March 8, 2022, extends appreciation to all government finance professionals throughout the state and Manatee  County for their hard work, dedication, and leadership.

The Florida Government Finance Officers Associations (FGFOA), a professional association founded in 1937 serving more than 3,300 professionals from state, county, and city governments, school districts, colleges and universities, special districts, and private firms, sponsors Government Finance Professionals Week.

The FGFOA is dedicated to being a professional resource by providing education, networking, leadership, and information opportunities.

Government Finance Professionals Week is a weeklong series of activities to recognize government finance professionals and the vital services they provide to our state and our communities.

In addition to celebrating Finance Week, the Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller's Office is happy to congratulate our Finance Department on a job well done this past year. For the second year in a row, our office earned a Triple Crown medallion from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for receiving all three honors from the GFOA of the United States and Canada in the areas of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

These accolades are the highest recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. These attainments represent significant government and management accomplishments.

"It is an honor to receive these recognitions from the Government Finance Officers Association," said Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller Angel Colonneso.

"Our citizens can be assured that we are consistently maintaining our commitment to transparency in governmental financial reporting in accordance with the Governmental Accounting Standards."

For the 42nd consecutive year, the GFOA has awarded the Manatee County Clerk's Office the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the County's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2020.

An impartial panel judged the County's Annual Report to determine whether the Clerk's Office met the program's high standards, including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read it.

The GFOA has awarded the Manatee County Clerk's Office, for the 28th consecutive year, with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the Manatee County Port Authority's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.

For the 22nd consecutive year, the GFOA has also given the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award to Manatee County for its Popular Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2020.

The Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award is a prestigious national award that recognizes conformance with the highest standards for preparing state and local government popular reports. The report tells the financial story of a local government. It is written for the non-financial reader who has a strong interest in the government's financial stability.
