THE MANATEE CLERK OF COURT CELEBRATES GOVERNMENT FINANCE PROFESSIONALS WEEK

An official proclamation, from Manatee County, designates March 15-19, 2021, as “Government Finance Professionals Week.”  The proclamation issued March 9, 2021, extends appreciation to all government finance professionals in the State of Florida and in the County of Manatee and acknowledges their hard work, dedication and leadership.

This Government Finance Professionals Week is sponsored by the Florida Government Finance Officers Association, a professional association founded in 1937 and serving more than 3,300 professionals from state, county and city governments, school districts, colleges and universities, special districts and private firms.

The FGFOA is dedicated to being a professional resource by providing opportunities through education, networking, leadership and information. The week, sponsored by the FGFOA and all of its member governmental organizations, is a weeklong series of activities aimed at recognizing government finance professionals and the vital services that they provide to our state and to our communities.

In addition to celebrating Finance Week, the Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller’s Office is happy to congratulate our Finance Department on a job well done this past year.  Our office received three honors from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) in the areas of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

These accolades are the highest form of recognition in the areas of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and these attainments represent significant accomplishments by government and its management.

“It is an honor to receive these recognitions from the Government Finance Officers Association,” said Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller Angel Colonneso.  “Our citizens can be assured that we are consistently maintaining our commitment to transparency in governmental financial reporting in accordance with the Governmental Accounting Standards.”

For the 41st consecutive year, the GFOA has awarded the Manatee County Clerk’s Office with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the County’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2019.

The County’s Annual Report was judged by an impartial panel to determine whether the Clerk’s Office met the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read it.

The GFOA has awarded the Manatee County Clerk’s Office, for the 27th consecutive year, with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the Manatee County Port Authority’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.

For the 22nd consecutive year, the GFOA has also given the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award to Manatee County for its Popular Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2019.

The Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award is a prestigious national award that recognizes conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government popular reports. The report tells the financial story of a local government, and it is written for the non-financial reader who has strong interest in the government’s financial stability.
