Teen Court Volunteer Attorney Training

Volunteers are needed for the Manatee County Teen Court/Teen Court Too Program. Training will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 10am to 3pm at the Manatee Community Foundation. This opportunity is open to youths between the ages of 12-17. Please see attached for more details on how to RSVP.Teen Court and Teen Court Too are real Courtroom experiences for first-time juvenile offenders. Youths between the ages of 10-17, who admit that they are guilty of selected misdemeanor offenses and some Court-Ordered, non-violent felony cases are heard by a jury of their peers instead of going before a Juvenile Court Judge.

Youth volunteers are needed to fill the crucial roles of prosecuting and defense attorneys. No legal studies background is needed; although an interest in the judicial system and the role of attorneys is a plus.

During this training, youths who are interested in becoming Teen Court and Teen Court Too attorneys will receive training from practicing attorneys on courtroom decorum, questioning, objecting and code of conduct.
