Question Answer
Where is the Historical Park located? The Historical Park is located on State Road 64 East between 14th and 15th Street East. Turn south on 14th Street and make a sharp turn to the left into the Wiggins Store parking lot.
Is there a fee to enter the Historical Park? There is no fee to visit the park. You can make a donation if you like.
What hours is the Historical Park open? We are open from 9:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday and on Sundays from 1:30-4:30 P.M. The park is open on Saturdays exclusively for weddings. The park is closed on Sundays in the months of July and August.
What is there to see at the Historical Park? We have the 1860 Courthouse, the 1887 Church, the One Room Schoolhouse, the Old Settler’s House, the Barn, the Sugar Cane Mill and Smokehouse, the Wiggins Store, a Black Smith shop, a 1913 Baldwin Steam locomotive, and the Fogarty Boatworks. All of the buildings are furnished with period furniture and artifacts. The Wiggins Store also includes a museum and a Children’s Hands On Room.
Will there be someone to give me a tour of the Historical Park? If you come to the park between October and May from 9:30 A.M. and 3:30 P.M., Monday through Friday or Sundays, 1:30-4:30 P.M., there are volunteers to escort you through the park. In the summer, you can take a self-guided tour of the park using our park guidebook. Large groups are asked to call and make arrangements for a tour in advance.
Do you do tours for children at the Historical Park? Yes, our school program is on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:30 A.M. to 12:45 P.M. from October 18 to May 10. Each day has a different theme and children only visit part of the park during their visit. Schoolteachers must make a reservation in advance for their class to visit the park by calling 941-741-4075. The maximum number of children we can accommodate each day is 60. We book up very quickly so teachers are urged to make their reservation early in the school year.
Can I have my wedding at the Historical Park? Yes, we do allow weddings at the park. You can choose between the 1887 church or the gazebo if you prefer an outdoor wedding. The cost is $350 plus tax for use of the park for one hour the day before for a rehearsal and two hours on the wedding day. Contact Ted Adams, 941-749-7165, for information or to make a reservation.
