Manatee County Receives Popular Financial Reporting Award

October 22, 2009—For the 11th consecutive year, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has given the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award to Manatee County for its Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2008.

The Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award is a prestigious national award recognizing conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government popular reports. The Popular Annual Financial Report tells the financial story of a local government and it is written for the non-financial reader who has strong interest in the government’s financial stability.

“Each year, I am so pleased to receive this award.  Countless hours go in to preparing these reports and it shows. The reports are tremendously useful and so easy to read,” says R.B. “Chips” Shore.

“The Clerk’s office is committed to providing as many public records and as much information as possible to the public, free.  Much of this is provided at no cost, in real time, over the Internet.  This enables citizens and organizations in Manatee County to work faster, smarter and with fewer expenses. The PAFR is one of the many pieces of information available to the public on-line,” Shore said.

This report is available by calling the Clerk’s office at 941-749-1800 ext. 6102 or online at  www.ManateeClerk.com.
