Offenses That May Be Diverted to Teen Court

The following list of misdemeanor crimes are the only crimes that the Juvenile Assessment Center may directly divert to Teen Court that will automatically be approved by the State Attorney's Office for first time offenders.

1. Battery (non-domestic, except sibling) F.S. 784.03
2. Criminal Mischief Less than $1,000 F.S. 806.13
3. Trespass (unoccupied) F.S. 810.08
4. Disorderly Conduct F.S. 877.03
5. Possession of Marijuana Less than 20 grams F.S. 893.13
6. Possession of Paraphernalia F.S. 893.147
7. Assault (non-domestic, except sibling) F.S. 784.011
8. Petit Theft/Retail Theft F.S. 812.014
9. Possession of Alcohol by a Minor F.S. 562.11
10. Harassing Telephone Calls (not lewd or fatal threats) F.S. 365.13
11. Disturbing School Function F.S. 231.07/F.S. 877.13

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

During a Juvenile Court session, a Probation Officer from the Department of Juvenile Justice, with the approval of the State Attorney, may refer a youth charged with a non-violent offense to Teen Court.
