Court Information

Back to CSE

All cases are set for court before the Support Enforcement Hearing Officer, unless she/he has specifically excluded herself/himself from hearing the case. All hearings are assigned a short period of time so it is extremely important that all parties arrive at, or preferably before, their assigned hearing time. Case managers will be available outside the courtroom to assist you and attempt any settlement negotiations.

Proper dress is required. No shorts, tanks tops or bathing suits are permitted. No children are permitted. Custodial parents who have a court date set must call (941) 749-1800, ext.4356 the day prior to the hearing to make sure the hearing is going forward.

Your attendance at court hearings is critically important. If allegations are made by the other party, your testimony will be needed to either concur with or dispute this testimony. Additionally, your attendance at the hearing allows you input into potential agreements and outcomes that will affect your case for months and/or years to come. Failure to attend could result in a binding agreement or court order that you do not necessarily desire. You have a responsibility to appear at all hearings for which you are sent notice to appear.
